About The Artist
Meet Nelson
Hi, I’m Nelson, the heart and hand behind Espada Tattoo. With over 20 years of experience and hundreds of stories inked into skin, I’ve built a reputation for detailed, thoughtful tattoos and a calm, welcoming experience from start to finish.
From Graphic Design to Tattooing
I’m a graduate of the graphic design program at Fanshawe College in London, Ontario. After working in the design field for a year and a half, I quickly realized something was missing—creative freedom and the kind of illustrative work I was truly passionate about. That passion continues to grow every day and led me to find my true path: tattooing.
I began my tattooing career in 2004. While I’m mostly self-taught, I was fortunate to receive guidance from two incredible artists—Anthony Veilleux of True Love Tattoo in London, Ontario, and Ian Rose of Universal Tattoo in Ottawa, Ontario. Their mentorship helped shape the foundation of my work and values as a tattoo artist.
From 2006 to 2016, I refined my skills and built lasting relationships while working at Dan Allaston’s iconic New Moon Tattoo. That decade played a huge role in shaping the artist I am today.
A Little More About Me
When I’m not tattooing, I’m probably sketching, spending time with my wife and young son, spending time outside with my dog, or discovering new places with my family.
My Style & Philosophy
I focus on creating custom tattoos that feel personal and meaningful. Whether it’s a tribute, a milestone, or a piece of personal symbolism—I believe every tattoo should feel like yours, not just mine.
Tattooing is a collaboration. I take time to listen, sketch, and work closely with you to make sure the final piece not only looks amazing but feels right. I’m here to guide you through the process with patience, care, and respect.
Let’s bring your vision
to life.
I’d love to hear what you have in mind.
